andrewcarson | I was intrigued by paper spacecraft and rocket models. Look at Delta 7 Studios for Gemini paper models. |
jleslie48 | New 1/48 Saturn V paper model available. |
Philip | How did you make those parts? Was it a pre-constructed model box or so? I know Saturn V models exist for scale-model rocketry with parachutes so the launcher can be retrieved. Okay, checked out the website: paper-work. Amazing, I'll never have the nerves nor patience for that kind of work! |

Started with the Boeing blueprint for proper scale, a cone is just part of a circle, a cylinder is just a rolled up rectangle... quote: Originally posted by Philip: I'll never have the nerves not patience for that kind of work!
That's the beauty of paper, if you mess up a part, it becomes part of the origami boulder collection, and you just reprint another sheet, try again until your happy. |
tfetner | Does anyone know of spacecraft/rocket paper models suitable for young children? My son is taking an interest in his father's obsession and wishes to build rocket models, etc. I thought the paper ones might be a good place for us to start as a team. |
DavidH | Here are some and more can be found here. I'm sure there's more out there, but maybe this will be enough to help you get started. Good luck! |
andthekids | Here are a few nice paper models from NASA. |
Robert Pearlman | NASA has several free paper models of Deep Impact available for download (versions are based on age of the model builder). |
spaceuk | Several PDF documents for several ESA spacecraft. |
tegwilym | Here are some more - if you don't mind a bit of tedious cutting. |
cyana | We have an ongoing 1/96 Apollo/Saturn paper model project. The first part of the project, the Crawler Transporter is available soon (second quarter 2006). It took about 3 years of careful investigations and studying thousands of original drawings and photographs. The kit will be entirely laser cutted and consists of about 7000 parts. A preview of the model is available here. |
teopze | For the past few days I was having fun building one of the paper models designed by Alfonso Moreno. |
Robert Pearlman | From Niels Paper Models (via the AAS History Committee): Mark Lardas has created a 1:32 scale model of Robert Goddard's L-13 rocket, which he flew on March 26, 1937. Mark has designed the model in scale 1:32 to go with Currels V-2 rocket and mine Hermes. |
NASA Glenn | Has anyone had any experience with Apollonia paper models? I have not seen Saturn V S1 transporter or Apollo 13 splashdown and transport cradle kits. |
em8g16 | I was looking to increase my collection of rocket model kits with some free paper models. I currently have the kit versions of: Saturn V, Space Shuttle, Ariane 5 and Airfix' Vostok. Do you know of any good (detailed and accurate) paper models to increase my collection and the links to get them? Most of the rockets I have are scale 1:144 so I would prefer paper models of this scale. Though I am open to other scales for really good/indispensable models! The same goes for models of famous spacecrafts if they are really well done. I've never done a paper model so any kind of advice is greatly appreciated. Editor's note: Threads merged. |
em8g16 | I've found a nice N1 1/144. I'll probably start with that one. Though the questions on the previous post still apply! I am still looking for other good models and any kind of advice on techniques, materials or other tips. |
Peter | For tips, building questions, models and more, go to papermodelers.com (PASA, Paper Aeronautical and Space Administration section is home to all Real Space model builds). Lots of different models here. Shuttles and SpaceX models and more here (I just downloaded the SpaceX Falcon 9 -CRS 13 model. I saw it land in December at the Cape). Models and links here. If you have experience with plastic models, you should catch on quickly. Plus with paper, if you mess up a part — you just print a new one. Hope this helps. |
